My Photographic Journey - Brooklyn Botanic Garden

House of Serendipity CA has a unique dual working philosophy that it relies on to grow the company. We are a company that strives to express itself through both the written word and visual means and that is reflected in our stationery and photography products. Today, I would like to take our audience behind the scenes to explain how our reliance on photographic images has played a key part in the development of both our company and its products.

As it can be seen through our stationery and photography items, photographic images play a central part in our products. While my initial introduction to the world of photography came as a result of a trip that I took to the Andalusian region of Spain, it would be another travel experience that would allow me to really hone my photography skills and further develop an appreciation for the photographic world.

Pink Cherry Blossoms in Brooklyn Botanic Garden

This trip, however, would be more of a local one. It would require me to only travel to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in Brooklyn, New York. Thus, on one warm and balmy day in late spring some years ago, I hopped on a subway on the Lexington Avenue line in New York City and traveled all the way to the Franklin Avenue station in Brooklyn, New York to take part in the cherry blossom festival that is held every spring at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

Pink Cherry Blossoms in Brooklyn Botanic Garden

As I strolled around Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the sun poured warmly on me and I was able to see that there were many varieties of cherry blossoms in full bloom. In fact, I had chosen a perfect place and occasion to capture some images of flowers. The botanic garden was a perfect place for a novice photographer to practice and learn some new photography skills. It was at the cherry blossom festival that I really learnt how to take photographs of flowers and really developed my own style when it came to floral photography. It really shaped how I saw flowers and allowed me to start to develop my own eye when it came to photography.

This local trip also proved to me that one doesn’t have to travel far to another continent to expand and develop our visual minds.
